"Suppose You Meet a Dinosaur: A First Book of Manners" by Judy Sierra is one of the cutest picture books I've come across. The cover shows a huge green dinosaur with pink reading glasses, a handbag and a shopping basket towering over a little girl. The illustrations are adorable, with tons of fun little details, and the colors are compelling. This story, as you might expect, is about a little girl who is surprised to see a dinosaur shopping at the grocery store. Confronted with this unusual sight, she asks herself how she should respond when the dinosaur begins to talk with her. By being polite and using her manners, of course! Both the little girl and the dinosaur introduce a variety of scenarios that show kids how to reply in a polite way, no matter who they meet - and what better way to teach these fundamental skills than with a big green dinosaur out grocery shopping?
