Pizza Pig by Diana Murray, Illustrated by Maria Karipidou Following the flow of rhyming and engaging illustrations, we are first introduced to a pig who is great at bringing different animals together by making pizza catered to their different lifestyles. Bears are provided pizza topped with jam. Rats get pizza with extra cheese and mold. When the pig eventually serves a turtle sitting by herself, he is left wondering why she is displeased. After several attempts of making the perfect pizza for the turtle, the pig finally realizes what the missing component to the meal was. A friend! I'd rate Pizza Pig 8 pizza slices out of 8 because of how it showcases the significance of friendship and compassion over any material items in our everyday life. Sales Representative, Derek Kocher

Lucky Ducky by Doreen Mulryan, is a brightly illustrated picture book about appreciation. Ducky feels he is an unlucky duck. He wants to change that to become a “Lucky Ducky”-- so he sets out in search of a four-leaf clover. Along his search, he is distracted by each of his friends, at different times, inviting him to join them in fun. Eventually he ends his search for his four leaf clover as he begins to realize, he is lucky already, because he has friends. In fact, this makes him “the luckiest ducky of all”! This is a fun, cute read for children because it re-enforces the importance of appreciating themselves and their friends, without wanting anything more!
