Happy Howlidays! Dog Man Brawl of the Wild will be released at the end of the month, and Penworthy will be offering it January 1st! If you aren't excited about this title, we're certain your kids will be! "Is Dog Man bad to the bone? The heroic hound is sent to the pound for a crime he didn't commit! While his pals work to prove his innocence, Dog Man struggles to find his place among dogs and people. Being a part of both worlds, will he ever fully fit in with one?" Dog Man is the #1 New York Times Bestselling Series! By author Dav Pilkey, writer of Captain Underpants, kids can't get enough of this witty humor and colorful graphics. The New York Times calls it "LEGENDARY." Watch the Dog Man: Brawl of the Wild Official Trailer now! This is a terrific picture book story for children which features two main characters Little Bob, a small bunny and Big Bob, a large bear (aka “Scaredy Bear”). These two characters represent two different types of personalities that we are all familiar with. Little Bob is a fearless, risk taker despite his small size. When his mother warns him to stay out of the forest because there is a dangerous monster that lives there, he instead makes the choice to go out into the forest to look for the monster. There he meets a huge bear who is initially afraid of Little Bob. Little Bob names the bear Big Bob and they become friends. We quickly find out that despite Big Bob's huge size and the fact that he's a bear, he's afraid of just about everything. This story teaches about overcoming fear, finding the “big bear” inside that is fearless. It's also about understanding that those that are different may not be the terrible monsters we fear but may be a lot like us. It does this all in a way that is fun and accessible for children. And, finally, who can resist a buddy story about a giant bear and little bunny? The STAR Net team in partnership with the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) are working together to share science- and technology-related activities and resources to libraries across the nation as part of next years’ summer learning program – Universe of Stories. NASA@ My Library will be sharing many more resources in the months ahead. Stay tuned!
STAR Net focuses on helping library professionals facilitate STEM learning for their patrons by providing “science-technology activities and resources” (STAR) and training to use those resources. Whether you are new to STEM or are building on past experiences, STAR Net offers resources and collaborations to take lifelong STEM learning to new levels in your library:
