Biscuit's Snow Day Race by Alyssa Satin Capucilli From the illustration of the cover alone, I was immediately drawn in to the book. If a picture speaks a thousand words, that of a dog speaks a thousand more. Pets play a huge role in the development of our character especially if presented at a young age. This book takes us through a snowy day with a girl and her dog, Biscuit. Biscuit finds himself wandering around and being the nosy and curious critter. Eventually, Biscuit finds himself in a sledding race, in which he wins and grabs attention from the other kids. They end up finishing a snow fort that they had initially started big enough for the other kids and pets to join in as well. In the end, Biscuit brings an entire group of friends together and makes the fun day in the snow that much better. Connections that you make with pets can give you an indescribable feeling that's hard to match. Biscuit's Snow Day Race by Alyssa Satin Capucilli leaves the readers with a smile and a warm heart that can carry throughout the entire cold winter. Derek Kocher, Sales Representative

Pirates Don't Go To School by Alan MacDonald This is funny story about little pirate boy, Jake, who's life was on a pirate ship though he longed to go to school. But "pirates don't go to school” his family would tell him. They filled his mind with bad things he'd find in school, such as “a terrible ten-legged sea monster” teacher! Nevertheless, he insisted, so his parents agreed to let Jake go to school! His initial experience was lonely, and having no friends made Jake wonder if his family was right after all. Maybe school IS bad. However, things improved for him and he made it through his first day, leaving him eagerly anticipating the next day. Only this time, he brought his pirate family along to share in his wonderful school experience!
