The Adventures of Violet and Dash: Book 1, Friend or Foe? This is a cute chapter book based on the movie The Incredibles 2. Violet and Dash may be part of the Incredibles and super heroes but they also have chores, homework and school, just like any other kid. Violet wishes her life could be NORMAL, but Dash wants life to be SUPER all the time. When some mysterious events happen at school, the siblings begin to wonder - are there other Super kids out there? And are these kids heroes or villains? The story is told in diary format with Violet and Dash alternating chapters in the same diary (since Dash kept reading Violets diary, she told him he could write in it as well). There are two books in the series so far and it is a great set for reluctant readers, as the diary format makes for a quick and easy read and the story moves along quickly alternating between the two narrators. It tells a story of how if you work together you can accomplish SUPER results! Kids will love the fact that it looks handwritten and has illustrations mixed in just like a normal diary would and of course who can resist a Super Hero story? Frog has big plans for an exciting Christmas vacation this year. According to his brochure, the "Christmas Extravaganza Hotel" has supersonic sleigh ride, a big singing tree, tons of bright lights and also a North Pole breakfast bar each morning! Unfortunately a map-reading error brings him to the home of a bear who's all set for a quiet, simple Christmas of his own. Frog is crushed but bear offers him a place to stay, and soon realizes he's has to think of alternatives to all the activities in Frog's brochure. Bear and Frog end up having a blast enjoying each other's company as they bake cookies, have snowball fights, ride sleighs and gaze at the Northern Lights! Frog loves Bear's Christmas Hotel and forgets all about his fancy resort in the brochure. Children will absolutely love this story about two unlikely friends who through chance, explore the true meaning of Christmas together. The book's large beautiful pictures and cheery expressions make this a wonderful choice for story time this holiday season!
