Pirates Don't Go To School by Alan MacDonald
This is funny story about little pirate boy, Jake, who's life was on a pirate ship though he longed to go to school. But "pirates don't go to school” his family would tell him. They filled his mind with bad things he'd find in school, such as “a terrible ten-legged sea monster” teacher! Nevertheless, he insisted, so his parents agreed to let Jake go to school!
His initial experience was lonely, and having no friends made Jake wonder if his family was right after all. Maybe school IS bad.
However, things improved for him and he made it through his first day, leaving him eagerly anticipating the next day. Only this time, he brought his pirate family along to share in his wonderful school experience!
