Happy Monday! Here’s a round-up of trending topics we've been seeing lately that could easily tie in to library programs or events:
Kindness never goes out of style, but it’s especially encouraging to see so many initiatives focusing on it right now. And it’s a perfect fit for the 2017 summer reading theme of “Build a Better World”!
February is Library Lovers Month! Holding a “Blind Date with a Book” event could be a fun way to celebrate. Last year, this library director asked patrons to share their stories of what the library means to them. What a lovely engagement idea. Children’s Authors and Illustrators Week is celebrated the first week of February. Activity ideas and related resources can be found here and here. Disney Reads Day is February 4, 2017 and could be a fun way to engage young patrons, either with a program or a book display. Batman Lego Movie: The highly anticipated follow-up to the blockbuster Lego Movie will release on Friday, February 10. It’s a great opportunity to hold a Lego building program in the library, and invite little Lego fans to come dressed in their Batman gear.
