"Rodeo Red" by Maripat Perkins is a large-format picture book that is adorable for many reasons. Rodeo Red is a pig-tailed preschooler who fancies herself to be a "rancher" and tries to save her beloved stuffed dog from the clutches of her baby brother in this sibling showdown. The colorful illustrations and wild west style language are sure to make any child or adult laugh. Her mother is the sheriff and her father is the deputy, and when she misbehaves and gets put into a time-out, she refers to it as being put in a "holding cell." When she's released, she “decides to drown her sorrows and grab some grub” (AKA cookies and milk)! A great story to bring up the subject of having new siblings.
